Author Guidelines

WUJUD: Journal of Engineering and Technology

Authors intending to submit a manuscript to WUJUD: Journal of Engineering and Technology must prepare their manuscript in accordance with these Author Guidelines and the official journal manuscript template. Manuscripts should demonstrate scientific quality, originality, methodological clarity, relevance to engineering and technology, and a clear contribution to knowledge, technological development, design, or professional engineering practice.

Manuscript Types

Authors should select the category that most accurately reflects the submitted manuscript. WUJUD accepts the following paper types:

• Research Article
• Applied Study
• Design and Development Report
• Technology Review

General Manuscript Format

Article Metadata

The manuscript front page should provide complete and accurate article metadata.

• Article History: Received, Revised, Accepted, and Published dates using yyyy-mm-dd format.
• Keywords: maximum five terms separated by commas.
• DOI: displayed as an active DOI link after assignment.
• Subject Area: maximum five relevant subject terms.
• Corresponding Author: author name and email address.
• Other Author Email(s): valid email addresses for co-authors.
• Paper Type: select one applicable manuscript category.

Abstract

The abstract must contain 150–250 words and should not contain citations. A structured abstract must be prepared using the following five components:

Introduction

The introduction should present the engineering or technological problem, its global and national context, current evidence, scientific or design basis, research gap and novelty, and the study objective, research question, or hypotheses. The section should conclude by clearly stating the contribution of the study to engineering knowledge, technology, or professional practice.

Literature Review

The literature review should critically synthesize relevant journal articles, books, standards, technical reports, and other scholarly sources in engineering and technology. The discussion should be organized around concepts, theories, design principles, technologies, performance relationships, and unresolved technical problems rather than merely listing previous authors.

Authors should examine both international and Indonesian evidence, explain inconsistencies among previous findings, and demonstrate how existing knowledge supports the study framework, design rationale, or research focus. Relevant, recent, and peer-reviewed sources should be prioritized.

Hypothesis Development

Where applicable, each hypothesis should be developed from established engineering theory, technical principles, and previous empirical findings. Authors should define the expected relationship between variables, explain the underlying mechanism, acknowledge inconsistent prior evidence where relevant, and conclude with a clear and testable hypothesis.

Research Methods

The Research Methods section should provide sufficient detail to permit methodological transparency, evaluation, and, where applicable, replication.

• Research approach and study design.
• Study, laboratory, field, or test setting and period.
• Materials, equipment, systems, datasets, or test objects.
• Sampling or experimental design, where relevant.
• Measurement and data collection procedures.
• Validation and verification procedures.
• Uncertainty, reliability, or robustness assessment.
• Safety and ethical safeguards where applicable.
• Statistical, computational, qualitative, or other analytical techniques.

Simulation, Design, and Development Studies

For simulation-based studies, authors should describe the model, assumptions, boundary conditions, software, parameters, verification, and validation procedures.

For design and development studies, authors should explain the architecture or prototype, technical specifications, implementation procedure, testing process, and performance evaluation.

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures must be inserted near their first citation in the manuscript and should not be collected at the end of the article.

• Use Arabic numbering in the order of citation.
• Table titles must appear above the table.
• Figure captions must appear below the figure.
• Every table and figure must be cited in the text before it appears.
• State the source when material is adapted or reproduced.
• Tables should use horizontal rules without vertical lines.
• Avoid decorative colours and screenshots of tables.
• Figures, charts, diagrams, and images must be clear and readable.
• Define all abbreviations used in figures and tables.
• Each table or figure should fit within one portrait page.

Results and Discussion

Results should be presented in a logical sequence and interpreted in terms of their engineering and technological significance. Authors should explain how the findings answer the research questions, test the hypotheses, or satisfy the stated engineering objectives and performance criteria. Results should be compared with previous research, applicable standards, benchmark designs, or validated models. The discussion should also address unexpected findings, limitations, and implications for engineering design, safety, reliability, efficiency, sustainability, infrastructure, manufacturing, automation, digital technology, or industrial practice. Avoid unnecessarily repeating values already presented in tables and figures.

Conclusion

The conclusion should synthesize the principal answer to the research objective, state the study's contribution, and present the most relevant practical implication. Authors should not introduce new data, citations, or arguments. Recommendations and directions for future research may be included when they follow directly from the findings.

Acknowledgements

Authors may acknowledge individuals, laboratories, institutions, companies, technical staff, funding programmes, field-site operators, equipment providers, data providers, language editors, or other contributors who supported testing, measurement, prototype development, field coordination, analysis, or related activities but do not qualify for authorship.

Author Contributions

Authors should clearly identify individual contributions to the manuscript using the following categories where applicable:

• Writing – review and editing

Funding Statement

Authors must disclose all financial support received for the study, including the funder name and grant number where applicable. Authors should also disclose any role of the funding organisation in study design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, manuscript preparation, or the decision to publish.

Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence the manuscript or its interpretation.

Statement on the Use of Artificial Intelligence

Authors must disclose any use of generative Artificial Intelligence or AI-assisted technologies in preparing the manuscript. The disclosure should identify the tool or service, its purpose, and the tasks for which it was used. AI tools must not be listed as authors. Authors remain fully responsible for originality, accuracy, citation verification, confidentiality, research ethics, and the final content of the manuscript.

References

References and in-text citations must follow the American Psychological Association, Seventh Edition (APA 7th Edition). Every source cited in the manuscript must appear in the reference list, and every entry in the reference list must be cited in the manuscript.

• Arrange reference-list entries alphabetically by the first author's surname.
• Use a hanging indent for reference-list entries.
• Use a, b, and c after the year when the same author or author group has multiple publications in the same year.
• Verify author names, titles, journal names, volume, issue, pages, and publication year.
• Prioritize relevant, current, and peer-reviewed literature.
• Ensure cited sources are integrated into the scholarly argument rather than listed without analysis.

In-Text Citation

• Single author: Sari (2024) or (Sari, 2024).
• Two authors: use “and” in narrative citations and “&” in parenthetical citations.
• Three or more authors: use the first author's surname followed by et al. from the first citation.
• Include page numbers or another precise locator for direct quotations.
• Multiple references in the same parentheses should be arranged alphabetically and separated by semicolons.

DOI and Web References

Authors should include an active DOI URL in the format https://doi.org/... whenever a valid DOI exists. Authors must not invent or guess DOI information. For reports and webpages without a DOI, provide the author or organisation, date, title, publisher or site name, and a stable URL. A retrieval date should be included only for content that is designed to change over time.

Technical Preparation

• Place text, tables, and figures in the relevant sections of the manuscript.
• Avoid hard tabs and unnecessary paragraph breaks.
• Use one paragraph break at the end of each paragraph.
• Do not manually insert page numbers.
• Do not create manual headers or footers.
• Do not use endnotes.
• Complete substantive and language editing before final formatting.

Use of the Official Manuscript Template

Authors are required to prepare manuscripts using the official WUJUD: Journal of Engineering and Technology manuscript template. Manuscripts that do not comply with the required structure, formatting, metadata, citation style, or submission requirements may be returned to the author for correction before entering the peer-review process.

Submission of a manuscript to WUJUD: Journal of Engineering and Technology indicates that the authors have read and agreed to comply with the journal's Author Guidelines, Publication Ethics, Peer Review Process, Plagiarism Policy, Copyright & License Policy, and other applicable editorial requirements.
