Article Processing Charge

The Journal of Applied Economics & Business (JAEB) does not charge authors any fees for manuscript submission, editorial processing, peer review, revision, acceptance, publication, or access to published articles.

All editorial and publication services provided directly by JAEB are completely free of charge. Authors are not required to make any payment at any stage of the submission, review, production, or publication process.

No Submission Fee

JAEB does not charge a manuscript submission fee.

Authors may submit manuscripts through the journal's official online submission system without payment.

No fee is required for:

  • Creating an author account;
  • Submitting a manuscript;
  • Uploading supplementary files;
  • Completing submission metadata;
  • Administrative screening;
  • Initial editorial assessment;
  • Similarity screening conducted by the journal;
  • Assignment to editors or reviewers.

No Article Processing Charge

JAEB does not impose an Article Processing Charge or APC.

Authors are not charged for:

  • Editorial evaluation;
  • Double-blind peer review;
  • Revision assessment;
  • Final editorial decision;
  • Copyediting;
  • Layout preparation;
  • Proofreading coordination;
  • Metadata preparation;
  • Online publication;
  • Issue assignment;
  • Open-access publication;
  • Digital preservation;
  • Indexing and metadata submission;
  • DOI registration when DOI services become available.

No Publication Fee

Authors whose manuscripts are accepted for publication are not required to pay any publication fee.

Acceptance decisions are based exclusively on:

  • Consistency with the aims and scope of JAEB;
  • Originality and scholarly contribution;
  • Theoretical relevance;
  • Methodological quality;
  • Accuracy and transparency of the analysis;
  • Quality of the findings and discussion;
  • Compliance with research and publication ethics;
  • Peer-review recommendations;
  • Compliance with the journal's editorial requirements.

The financial circumstances of authors do not influence editorial decisions.

No Peer-Review Fee

JAEB does not charge authors for peer review.

Authors are not required to pay reviewers, editors, editorial board members, or other individuals involved in evaluating their manuscripts.

Reviewers provide their evaluations as part of scholarly service and must not request payment, gifts, personal benefits, citation advantages, or other compensation directly from authors.

No Revision Fee

JAEB does not charge authors for submitting revised manuscripts.

There is no fee for:

  • Minor revision;
  • Major revision;
  • Resubmission for review;
  • Additional review rounds;
  • Submitting a response-to-reviewers document;
  • Correcting manuscript formatting;
  • Correcting references, tables, figures, or metadata.

A request for revision does not guarantee acceptance, but no payment is required for the revision process.

No Copyediting or Layout Fee

JAEB does not charge authors for copyediting, article formatting, layout preparation, pagination, galley preparation, or technical publication services performed by the journal.

Authors remain responsible for preparing manuscripts according to the official JAEB template and for ensuring the accuracy of language, references, tables, figures, and research information before submission.

No Charges Based on Article Length

JAEB does not impose additional fees based on:

  • The number of manuscript pages;
  • The number of words;
  • The number of authors;
  • The number of tables or figures;
  • The number of references;
  • The use of color figures;
  • The number of supplementary files;
  • The number of revision rounds.

Manuscripts must still comply with the journal's article-length, formatting, and presentation requirements.

No Open-Access Fee

All articles published by JAEB are made immediately and freely accessible to readers.

Authors are not charged an open-access fee for making their articles publicly available.

Published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.

Readers are not required to pay subscription fees, access fees, or pay-per-view charges to read or download JAEB articles.

No Waiver Application Required

Because JAEB does not charge submission, processing, or publication fees, authors do not need to apply for a fee waiver.

The same free publication policy applies to all authors regardless of:

  • Country of residence;
  • Nationality;
  • Institutional affiliation;
  • Academic position;
  • Employment status;
  • Research funding status;
  • Professional background;
  • Personal financial circumstances.

Optional External Services

Authors may independently use external services such as language editing, translation, statistical consultation, reference management, illustration preparation, or professional proofreading.

Any costs associated with services selected independently by the authors are not Article Processing Charges imposed by JAEB.

JAEB does not require authors to use a particular commercial editing, translation, statistical, or manuscript-preparation service.

The use of an external service does not guarantee manuscript acceptance or preferential editorial treatment.

Funding and Sustainability

The editorial and publication activities of JAEB are supported by Velora Indonesia and other legitimate institutional resources available to the journal.

The journal's free publication policy is intended to:

  • Reduce financial barriers to scholarly publication;
  • Support equitable participation in academic publishing;
  • Provide opportunities for researchers without publication funding;
  • Promote the dissemination of applied economics and business research;
  • Maintain open access for authors and readers.

Financial support for the journal does not influence peer review, editorial decisions, publication ethics, correction procedures, or retraction decisions.

Editorial Independence

The absence of publication charges does not reduce the journal's academic, ethical, or editorial standards.

Every manuscript must complete the required:

  • Administrative screening;
  • Scope and quality assessment;
  • Similarity screening;
  • Double-blind peer review;
  • Revision process;
  • Final editorial assessment;
  • Copyediting and production process.

Velora Indonesia, sponsors, supporting institutions, and other financial contributors must not interfere with decisions concerning manuscript acceptance, revision, rejection, correction, or retraction.

Prohibition of Unauthorized Payments

Authors must not make payments to personal bank accounts, electronic wallets, private payment links, or unofficial payment channels claiming to represent JAEB.

JAEB does not authorize editors, reviewers, editorial board members, staff members, agents, or third parties to request:

  • Submission fees;
  • Review fees;
  • Acceptance fees;
  • Publication fees;
  • Fast-track fees;
  • Priority-processing fees;
  • Indexing fees;
  • DOI fees;
  • Certificate fees;
  • Editorial-service fees;
  • Any other mandatory payment related to publication.

Any payment request made in the name of JAEB should be treated as suspicious and reported immediately to the official editorial office.

No Fast-Track Publication Fee

JAEB does not offer paid fast-track peer review, paid priority publication, or paid guaranteed acceptance.

Manuscripts are processed according to editorial readiness, reviewer availability, academic quality, revision completion, and the journal's publication schedule.

Authors cannot obtain faster review, acceptance, publication, or issue placement by making a payment.

No Guaranteed Acceptance

JAEB does not guarantee manuscript acceptance.

Free submission and publication do not mean that every submitted manuscript will be published.

Manuscripts may be rejected when they:

  • Fall outside the journal's aims and scope;
  • Lack sufficient originality or scholarly contribution;
  • Contain serious methodological weaknesses;
  • Do not comply with research or publication ethics;
  • Do not respond adequately to reviewer comments;
  • Contain plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabricated data, or other misconduct;
  • Fail to meet the journal's academic and editorial standards.

Charges for Corrections and Retractions

JAEB does not charge authors for the publication of legitimate corrections, corrigenda, errata, expressions of concern, or retraction notices.

Editorial actions relating to the integrity of the scholarly record are handled according to the journal's publication-ethics policies and are not conditional upon payment.

Policy Transparency

Information concerning fees must be presented consistently on:

  • The Article Processing Charges page;
  • The Author Guidelines;
  • The Submission Checklist;
  • The journal homepage or About section;
  • The Open Access Policy;
  • The online submission system;
  • Other relevant editorial pages.

The journal must not display contradictory information suggesting that publication is free on one page but subject to mandatory charges on another page.

Future Policy Changes

JAEB may review this policy periodically to ensure the financial sustainability and quality of the journal.

If the journal introduces any fee in the future:

  • The change must be announced publicly before it applies;
  • The type and amount of the fee must be stated clearly;
  • The party responsible for payment must be identified;
  • Waiver or exemption arrangements must be explained when applicable;
  • The change must not be applied retroactively to manuscripts submitted under the free publication policy;
  • Editorial decisions must remain independent of payment.

Unless an official policy update is published on the journal website, the submission, review, processing, and publication of articles in JAEB remain completely free of charge.
