Publication Frequency

The Journal of Applied Economics & Business (JAEB) is published twice a year by Velora Indonesia.

JAEB publishes two regular issues annually according to the following schedule:

  • Issue 1: February
  • Issue 2: August

This publication schedule applies to all regular issues of the journal. Articles that have successfully completed the editorial, peer-review, revision, copyediting, and production processes will be assigned to the nearest available issue according to editorial readiness and publication capacity.

Regular Publication Schedule

Issue Publication Month Publication Type
Issue 1 February Regular Issue
Issue 2 August Regular Issue

Accordingly, one complete publication volume consists of two regular issues published within the same calendar year.

Publication Model

JAEB applies an issue-based publication model. Accepted articles are prepared and published as part of a scheduled February or August issue.

An article will be published only after completing all required editorial stages, including:

  • Administrative and technical screening;
  • Assessment of conformity with the journal's aims and scope;
  • Similarity screening;
  • Double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers;
  • Author revision and editorial reassessment;
  • Final acceptance by the responsible editor;
  • Copyediting;
  • Layout preparation;
  • Author proofreading;
  • Metadata verification;
  • Final publication approval.

Submission or acceptance does not automatically guarantee publication in a particular issue.

Issue Assignment

Accepted articles are assigned to an issue based on:

  • The date of final acceptance;
  • Completion of all required revisions;
  • Completion of copyediting and layout preparation;
  • Author approval of the final proof;
  • Thematic relevance and balance of the issue;
  • The number of articles available for publication;
  • The journal's editorial and production capacity.

The editor-in-chief and editorial team have the authority to determine the most appropriate issue for each accepted article.

Authors may not select or reserve a publication issue merely by submitting a manuscript before a particular month.

Submission Period

JAEB accepts manuscript submissions throughout the year.

Authors are not required to wait for a specific submission period before submitting a manuscript. However, manuscripts must complete all editorial and production stages before they can be included in a scheduled issue.

Manuscripts submitted close to a publication month may be assigned to the following issue when the review, revision, or production process cannot be completed properly before the scheduled publication date.

Publication Timeline

The time required to process a manuscript may vary depending on:

  • The completeness and quality of the initial submission;
  • The availability of qualified reviewers;
  • The complexity of the research topic and methodology;
  • The number and extent of revisions required;
  • The responsiveness of authors and reviewers;
  • The need for additional review or ethical clarification;
  • The copyediting, proofreading, and layout process;
  • The publication capacity of the scheduled issue.

JAEB does not guarantee acceptance or publication within a fixed period.

Editorial quality, research integrity, and proper peer review will not be compromised merely to meet a preferred publication date.

February Issue

The February issue is the first regular issue of each annual volume.

Articles assigned to the February issue must have completed the required peer-review, revision, acceptance, and production stages before the issue is finalized.

A manuscript that is not editorially or technically ready for the February issue may be considered for the August issue.

August Issue

The August issue is the second and final regular issue of each annual volume.

Articles assigned to the August issue must have completed all required editorial and production stages before the issue is finalized.

A manuscript that is not ready for the August issue may be considered for the February issue of the following volume.

Publication Date

The official publication date of an article is the date stated on its article page and published galley.

The publication record should include, when available:

  • The date of manuscript receipt;
  • The date of revision;
  • The date of acceptance;
  • The date of publication;
  • The volume and issue number;
  • The page range or article number;
  • The DOI when DOI registration becomes available.

The publication date must not be assigned before the article has received final editorial approval and has been made publicly available through the official journal website.

Volume and Issue Numbering

Each publication year constitutes one journal volume.

Each annual volume contains:

  • Number 1, published in February;
  • Number 2, published in August.

The recommended citation structure is:

Journal of Applied Economics & Business, Volume [Number], Issue [Number], [Year].

The volume and issue sequence must be maintained consistently and must not be changed retroactively without a valid editorial reason.

Special Issues

JAEB may publish a special issue when academically and operationally appropriate.

A special issue may focus on:

  • A specific topic within the journal's aims and scope;
  • An emerging issue in applied economics or business;
  • A research collaboration;
  • A scholarly conference or academic forum;
  • A significant policy or professional development.

A special issue must:

  • Remain within the aims and scope of JAEB;
  • Apply the same publication-ethics standards as regular issues;
  • Apply the same double-blind peer-review requirements;
  • Clearly identify the responsible editor or guest editor;
  • Avoid guaranteed acceptance or publication;
  • Maintain the editorial independence of JAEB.

The publication of a special issue does not automatically change the regular February and August publication schedule.

Publication Delays

JAEB will make reasonable efforts to publish each regular issue according to the stated February and August schedule.

However, publication may be delayed because of:

  • Insufficient numbers of publishable articles;
  • Reviewer availability;
  • Incomplete author revisions;
  • Unresolved ethical or legal concerns;
  • Technical problems affecting the journal platform;
  • Production or metadata-verification requirements;
  • Other exceptional circumstances beyond the journal's reasonable control.

When a significant delay occurs, the journal may publish an announcement through its official website.

JAEB will not publish academically or ethically unsuitable articles merely to fill an issue or maintain the publication schedule.

Publication Capacity

The number of articles published in each issue may vary according to:

  • The number of manuscripts that successfully complete peer review;
  • The academic quality of accepted articles;
  • The editorial and production capacity of the journal;
  • The thematic balance of the issue;
  • The availability of space and publication resources.

JAEB does not guarantee that every accepted article will be published in the immediately following issue.

No Fast-Track Issue Placement

JAEB does not provide paid fast-track review, paid priority publication, or paid placement in the February or August issue.

Authors cannot obtain a preferred publication date by:

  • Making a payment;
  • Offering a financial or personal benefit;
  • Contacting reviewers directly;
  • Pressuring editors or journal staff;
  • Claiming an institutional or promotional deadline;
  • Requesting guaranteed issue placement.

Issue assignment is based on editorial readiness and academic considerations.

Article Processing Charges

JAEB does not charge authors any submission, peer-review, processing, publication, issue-placement, or open-access fees.

Publication in the February and August issues is completely free of charge.

The absence of publication fees does not reduce the academic, ethical, or editorial requirements applied to submitted manuscripts.

Open Access and Licensing

All articles published in the February and August issues are made immediately and permanently available through open access.

Authors retain copyright and grant JAEB the right of first publication through a non-exclusive License to Publish.

Unless otherwise stated for specific third-party materials, published articles are distributed under the:

Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0)

Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License

Publication Ethics

The publication schedule does not override the journal's ethical obligations.

JAEB may postpone, reject, withdraw, correct, or retract an article when necessary because of:

  • Plagiarism;
  • Duplicate submission or publication;
  • Data fabrication or falsification;
  • Authorship disputes or manipulation;
  • Peer-review manipulation;
  • Unresolved ethical-approval issues;
  • Copyright or confidentiality problems;
  • Other serious concerns affecting research integrity.

No manuscript will be published solely to maintain the February or August publication schedule when the manuscript does not meet the journal's academic and ethical standards.

Schedule Transparency

Information concerning publication frequency must be stated consistently on:

  • The Publication Frequency page;
  • The journal homepage;
  • The About the Journal page;
  • The Author Guidelines;
  • The journal masthead;
  • The article template;
  • The OJS journal settings;
  • ISSN registration records when applicable;
  • Indexing and accreditation applications;
  • Published issue metadata.

JAEB must not describe its publication frequency as quarterly, three times a year, or another schedule that is inconsistent with the official February and August publication plan.

Changes to the Publication Schedule

JAEB may review its publication frequency in response to:

  • Growth in manuscript submissions;
  • Changes in editorial capacity;
  • Publisher resources;
  • Indexing or accreditation requirements;
  • Developments in scholarly publishing standards;
  • Other legitimate operational considerations.

Any change to the publication frequency must:

  • Be approved by the journal and publisher;
  • Be announced transparently on the official website;
  • Be reflected consistently across all journal policies and metadata;
  • Apply prospectively and not misrepresent previous publication schedules;
  • Be communicated to authors when it affects accepted manuscripts.

Unless an official update is published, JAEB remains a biannual journal published in February and August.
