Copyright and License

Journal of Consumer and Business Psychology

Authors who publish in the Journal of Consumer and Business Psychology (JCBP) retain copyright and moral rights over their published work. The journal does not require authors to transfer complete ownership of copyright to the publisher.

By accepting publication, the authors grant JCBP a non-exclusive license to publish, reproduce, distribute, archive, preserve, index, and identify the journal as the original publisher of the article. All published articles are made openly available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License .

Authors remain the copyright holders of their work.

Authors may reuse, reproduce, distribute, translate, archive, and incorporate their published article into later scholarly or professional works, provided that the original publication in JCBP is appropriately acknowledged.

Rights Granted to Users

Subject to the license conditions, readers and other users may exercise the following rights.

Users may copy, download, print, store, redistribute, and communicate the article in any medium or format.

Adapt

Users may remix, transform, translate, summarize, or build upon the published material.

Reuse

Reuse is permitted for research, education, professional practice, policy, and commercial purposes.

Conditions of Reuse

Appropriate Attribution

Users must give appropriate credit to the authors, cite the original article, identify JCBP as the original publisher, provide the article DOI or journal link, link to the license, and indicate whether changes were made.

ShareAlike Requirement

Adapted, translated, or transformed material must be distributed under the same CC BY-SA 4.0 license or another license officially recognized as compatible.

Attribution must not suggest that the authors, editors, publisher, or JCBP endorse the user, the reuse, or an adapted version. Users may not apply legal conditions, contractual restrictions, or technological measures that prevent others from exercising the rights permitted by the license.

Rights Retained by Authors

Self-Archiving

Authors may deposit submitted, accepted, and published versions of their article in personal, institutional, or subject repositories.

Academic Reuse

Authors may reuse the article in books, teaching materials, dissertations, reports, presentations, and subsequent research.

Public Distribution

Authors may share the published article through scholarly profiles, academic networks, websites, and professional platforms.

Rights Granted to the Journal

Authors grant JCBP the non-exclusive right of first publication and the right to publish the article under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license. The journal may reproduce, format, copyedit, translate metadata, distribute, display, preserve, migrate, archive, index, register a DOI, and make the article available through the journal website and recognized scholarly services.

These rights enable JCBP to maintain the scholarly record, support long-term access, correct publication errors, issue editorial notices, and disseminate the article without transferring copyright ownership from the authors.

License to Publish

Before publication, the corresponding author may be required to complete a License to Publish on behalf of all authors. This agreement confirms the authors' copyright ownership, grants the journal non-exclusive publishing rights, and authorizes publication under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license.

The agreement must also confirm that the manuscript is original, has been approved by all authors, does not violate third-party rights, and contains all required permissions for copyrighted material.

JCBP uses a License to Publish rather than a full Copyright Transfer Agreement because authors retain copyright over their published work.

Third-Party Copyrighted Material

The CC BY-SA 4.0 license applies to the original content created by the article authors unless a different credit line or licensing statement is displayed. Third-party photographs, figures, tables, instruments, scales, questionnaires, illustrations, datasets, maps, excerpts, or other copyrighted material may be subject to separate conditions.

Authors are responsible for identifying third-party material, obtaining written permission when required, providing accurate attribution, and informing readers when particular content is excluded from the article's Creative Commons license.

Author Warranties

By submitting and publishing an article in JCBP, the authors confirm that the work is original, has not been published in substantially the same form elsewhere, is not under simultaneous consideration by another journal, and does not infringe copyright, privacy, confidentiality, contractual, or other legal rights.

The authors also confirm that all sources have been properly acknowledged, all necessary permissions have been obtained, authorship information is accurate, and all co-authors have approved the final version and the applicable publication license.

Corrections, Retractions, and the Scholarly Record

Copyright ownership does not prevent the journal from publishing corrections, retractions, expressions of concern, or other editorial notices when necessary to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record. Such notices remain openly accessible and are linked to the relevant article.

A retracted article normally remains available in the journal archive and is clearly identified as retracted. The copyright and license statement continues to apply to the archived publication record unless a legal restriction requires otherwise.

Policy Consistency

The copyright holder, licensing terms, and open access statement must be presented consistently on the journal website, article landing pages, publication metadata, License to Publish document, and published article files. Any article containing a different license must display that exception clearly.
